Day 1 -Eaton County

  • Biosecurity, Tools, Supplies Keyword review
  • Field Visit -At Ben Tirrell Farm
  • Farm Site Review – Run off management lots and pasture Mgmt
  • Manure Structures and Intro to siting
  • Brief Intro to BODA/Mortality
  • Milkhouse wastewater and silage management
  • Considerations for small systems and other species. Discuss 101 videos (sheep, pork) and considerations for horse, poultry, Amish
  • Action plan review

Day 2 - Clinton County

  • Classroom – Intro to Manure Management System Plan(MMSP) and components
  • Dairy Farm - Field Visit in Clinton County (or other as determined)
  • Classroom – take numbers from Dairy Farm and discuss creating a MMSP
  • Funding opportunities for farmers – briefly discuss some of the livestock practices that NRCS will costshare. Example restricted access to waterway, heavy use area, etc.
  • Questions/Answers/Review

Lunch will be included both days. Dress for combination of in-class and farm visits.

There are 2 RSVP options. You can register for both days or just Friday. If you register for the "both days" option, it includes Thursday and Friday.
